My background and general interest are in soil science. I am particularly interested in agricultural soil greenhouse gas emissions under different management and fertilizing practices.

My current research focuses on field scale agricultural soil nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions as influenced by crop residue incorporation, under-seeded cover crops, and freeze-thaw cycles using a flux-gradient method. We continuously measure N2O emission over four plots with one flux intake tower per plot and a central Trace-Gas Analyzer. Soil and relevant meteorological data are also continuously collected. My goal is to better understand individual and combined effects of residue incorporation, cover crops, and freeze-thaw cycles on soil N2O emission.
