New Graduate Student Positions

We are seeking three graduate students (PhD or MSc) with backgrounds in agrometeorology, biogeochemistry, hydrology, soil science, or related field for projects focused on evaluating the resilience of diversified crop rotations to extreme weather events such as intense precipitation and freeze-thaw cycles in Canadian agroecosystems. Research will take place at the soil lysimeter facility at the Elora Research Station in Ontario with professors from the University of Guelph and University of Waterloo and collaborators from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Research update from Susantha at Northern Ontario Ag Conference

Back in February, our Research Associate Susantha Jayasundara presented his research about the carbon sequestration abilities of various agricultural land uses at the Northern Ontario Ag Conference.Susantha's research takes place in Kapuskasing, ON, where he looks at soils in forests, arable cropland, and pasture. So far, pasture has shown higher carbon concentrations than the others, but there are many variables to consider and his research is still ongoing.
