Data – Available water

The amount of available water throughout the soil column is measured in order to quantify how water moves through the soil column under different management strategies and under climate change simulation. The amount of available water is measured at soil depths of 5, 10, 30, 60, and 90 cm, using water potential sensors (UMS T8 Tensiometer and Decagon MPS-6). This information is integrated into the water balance data and is used to determine how a conventional vs diverse crop rotation affects the vertical movement of water, which relates the flow of nutrients and microbial processes at different levels within the soil.
