Soil electrical conductivity gives an indication of the nutrients and salts dissolved in the soil water. This data can be used to determine changes in physiochemical properties of the soil, leaching and drainage patterns, soil water content, and soil microbial processes, as a result of a diversified crop rotation and surface temperature warming during the winter. This is measured using TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) probes inserted in the soil core at 5, 10, 30, 60, and 90 cm in depth, are used to measure the concentration of salts in the soil water throughout the soil profile.
